Clinical Psychotherapist / Counsellor 心理治疗师
Raymond has been involved in counselling and Psychotherapy work for more than 10 years and has various experiences with Singapore Airlines, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Swinburne University of Technology, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE).
Raymond always believes that in our life path, there will always be ups and downs and this is inevitable; you are the only master of your destiny, you control your thoughts and emotions and hence your mental state in dealing with them.
In 1990, Raymond was only a holder of what was considered back then as “Cambridge School Certificate – Division Three”. It was at that point that he decided to pursue further education in an effort to continue to improve himself. The years thereafter saw him graduating with a Diploma in Administrative Management (Orpinton, UK), a Diploma in Management Studies (Singapore Institute of Management), a basic degree in Marketing Management (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) and eventually, attained a Master degree in Social Science (Counselling) with University of South Australia.
There were questions asked about why he pursued counselling? Whether it was because of interest or was it passion? His answer is always simple and straight-forward, “Counselling is never an interest, neither should it be taken as a passion…it is a calling, a helping profession - where above your own difficult life situations, you are also helping others dealing with theirs…it can be quite a handful and they can be real challenging at times; but you must be ready for them.”
After he completed his full-time National Service in 1969, he worked for the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) for a year before he switched to join Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA) as one of its Flight Cabin Crew and had since been with them for 37 years before asking for early retirement. Of the 37 years with SIA, he worked as a trainer for 27 years, facilitating courses such as Foundation Service Training for new Cabin Crew trainees, Human Resources Management workshops, counselling-related workshops and other soft-skills training such as rank promotional/soft-skills training and Interview Preparatory workshops.
While working for SIA, Raymond was allowed to embark on part-time employment and has been a part-time Counselling therapist with Mount Elizabeth Hospital since 2003; as well as part-time lecturer, a Clinical Supervisor and Therapist for students under-going graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Masters degree programmes in Counselling, with Swinburne University of Technology - a well known University in Melbourne, Australia (a programme ran in conjunction with Mount Elizabeth Hospital and the Executive Counselling and Training Academy). During his tenure with SIA, he had written Counselling programmes, developed counselling workshops and also conducted many sessions of counselling training for SIA cabin crew. In addition, Raymond also worked as a Mediator for Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE) for several years.
All in all, Raymond has been involved in counselling and Psychotherapy work for more than 10 years and felt that it is time for him to leave his full-time job, to do more in this helping profession. He has since embarked on his journey full-time in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Training and Development, managing his own privately-run, eeZee Consultancy Services. Raymond always believes that learning is no ending and he is now also a Certified Hypnotherapist by National Guild of Hypnotists, Merrimack, New Hampshire, USA and still in his journey in value-adding his professional status as Psychotherapist/
